Ecommerce; taking the moral high-ground

Ecommerce Question Time allows the audience to quiz experts on topics such as Gender Equality, Carbon Footprint, Sustainability and the Circular Economy when applied to online trade. Does Ecommerce take the moral high-ground. You decide. The event will be recorded and made available post-event on YouTube.

Over six trillion dollars of global ecommerce trade will be conducted in 2023. If we ignore the 'COVID blip' then it continues to grow steadily within the UK where ecommerce, as a percentage of retail, is approximately double that of the US and Europe. Recent statistics suggest that, compared with traditional retail, it offers a lower carbon footprint and provides mechanisms to support a sustainable circular economy. Ecommerce may also be described as 'productivity applied to sales and marketing' while an analysis of LinkedIn profiles suggest that Ecommerce is one of the few digital sectors that demonstrates approximate gender equality in both its workforce and leadership.

For all that, Ecommerce is a topic largely ignored in terms of Economic Statistical Measurement, Productivity Analysis, Skills and training delivery, Qualifications Provision, Agency Resourcing or approach to International Trade.

Through questions from those involved with the ecommerce sector, this Question Time event hopes to make clear that Ecommerce is a topic worthy of greater attention by those concerned about climate change, gender equality, alignment with the needs of small SME businesses and the creation of an economy that's suited to the needs of the 21st Century.

Who should attend

This event should be relevant for those involved in setting strategy and planning within the public sector around the economy, skills training, gender equality and climate change.
